ペンギンに起こる、年に1度の「変化」
テレビ長崎 藤崎玲奈記者；こちらのフンボルトペンギンのプールでは今、ちょっと変わった姿が見られるんです。果たしてどんな姿なのでしょうか？
この記事の画像（10枚）日本一ペンギンの種類が多い長崎市の「長崎ペンギン水族館」では、フンボルトペンギン59羽に、今ある「変化」が起きている。それは…長崎ペンギン水族館 ペンギン担当 玉田亮太さん； これは換羽（かんう）と言って、1年に１度羽の生え変わりをする。今、羽の生え変わりの真っ最中。

For most birds, this is the "moulting period" for flying, but it also comes to penguins that can't fly in the sky.
2週間は「泳がず」「食べず」
In the case of Humboldt penguins, the summer after the breeding season is equivalent to the "moulting period".
Other penguins also have their own moulting periods. It looks like "Mohi Kanhail", the "heart" has grown new feathers, and the personality looks like a "fashion show".
長崎ペンギン水族館 ペンギン担当 玉田亮太さん；羽の手入れの時にポロポロ落ちながら、全身が新しい羽に覆われるようになって換羽が終了する。ペンギンの場合は、羽の生え変わりによって泳ぐ為に必要な「防水機能」が新しくなる。
They grow into new feathers in about 2 weeks, and in order to concentrate all their energy on molting, they are almost all penguins that "don't swim" or "don't eat".
長崎ペンギン水族館 ペンギン担当 玉田亮太さん；換羽の前にものすごくエサを食べて、換羽の時期は貯えたエネルギーを使って換羽していくので、この時期はエサは全然食べない。 フンボルトペンギンの換羽は繁殖後の７月ごろから始まっていて、今月末ごろまで楽しめるという。
