まるで船がビルの上に乗っかっているかのようなデザインのリゾートホテル「マリーナ・ベイ・サンズ」、一度見たら忘れられない印象的なスーパーツリーのある広大な植物園「ガーデンズ・バイ・ザ・ベイ」、そしてマーライオン。シンガポールは観光都市であり、アジアの物流ハブである。そして日本同様、高学歴化と少子高齢化が進んだシンガポールは「スマート国家」を目指すことを政府の方針としており、ロボットにも力を入れている。多民族国家ではあるが外国人労働者の受け入れを抑制したため、人手不足になり、ロボット導入が必要になっているのだそうだ。どこの国も事情は同じである。建国50周年を迎えた2015年には「National Robotics Programme」を発表。2016年からの3年間で4億5000万シンガポールドル（およそ360億円）をロボットdevelopmentや社会実装に投じて支援している。日本との関係も密接で、1000床を超える大規模公立病院であるチャンギ総合病院では、新棟の拡張に合わせて、2015年からパナソニックの自律搬送ロボット「Hospi（ホスピー）」が使われている。カルテ、医薬品や検体などを運搬するロボットだ。また離床アシストベッド「リショーネ」の実証実験も行っていた。ニトリグループの物流会社であるホームロジスティクスは物流倉庫ロボット「BUTLER」を導入している。「BUTLER」は、2011年に設立され、シンガポールに本社を置くGreyOrange社によるロボットで、それを日本国内ではGROUNDが販売・インテグレーションしている。シンガポールのチャンギ国際空港は「世界の空港ランキング」で5年連続で世界最高に選ばれた空港である。利用者数は年間5000万人になるという。村田機械はロボット床面洗浄機「Buddy（バディ）」を2016年4月にチャンギ空港に納入した。国内ではアマノから販売されているロボットだ。同社独自の自律移動制御システム「It’s Navi」を搭載しており、最初に人が操作して周回させるだけで環境地図を作成して、走行経路を決められる機能がある。2017年5月24日には、空港の地上業務を運営するシンガポール空港ターミナルサービス（SATS）、経済development庁（EDB）、シンガポール民間航空局（CAAS）の三者によって、1億1000万シンガポールドルを投じてロボットなどを活用するという発表が行われた。現地メディア「The Straitstimes」の記事の動画を見ると、空港ターミナル内のプレミアムラウンジで提供される麺類（ラクサ）を茹でるロボットアームなども紹介されたようだ。このなかの一つ、プレミアムラウンジにケータリング用の食品・水を運ぶロボットは「Dolly（ドリー）」と呼ばれている。一人の職員がトローリーを押して先導し、その後ろをロボットが自動追従していくことで、一人で三台のトローリーを運ぶことができるようになり、かつ、作業自体も楽になったという。この「ドリー」、実は日本製のロボットである。人追従運搬ロボット「サウザー」をdevelopmentしているロボットベンチャー「Doog（ドーグ）」によるもので、SATSでは「ドリー」と呼んでいるが、中身は「サウザー」そのものだ。同社の「サウザー」はライントレースのほか、レーザーセンサーを使うことで屋内外問わず人を追従できるAGV型の移動ロボットだ。2015年10月に発売されたあと、最近は、日本電産シンポやアルミ製機器製造販売のSUS、包装・梱包事業のタナックスなどと提携して販売するほか、共同でシステムdevelopmentを行って実地に使われている。同社は今回の導入に合わせて5月27日付でシンガポールに子会社としてDoog International Pte. Ltd.を設立。現在、チャンギ空港では7台の「サウザー」が使われているという。どういう経緯で使われるようになったのか、Doog 代表取締役社長の大島章氏に話を伺った。チャンギ空港ターミナル内にはプレミアムラウンジが点在している。SATSでは「ドリー」と呼ばれている搬送ロボットの「サウザー」は、ラウンジで提供される飲食物を運んでいる。25kgくらいの食品類が入るボックスが1単位になっていて、それを一台あたり100kg分くらい運んでいるのだという。ターミナルは広大だ。それだけではなく床面もハードフロアだけでなくカーペットを敷かれたエリアもあり、カートなどの手押し運搬は結構な重労働なだけでなく人手が必要だ。そこでSATSは人の後だけでなくカートの後を追うことができるロボットを使うことで、一人で3人分の仕事ができるようになったと見なしているという。大きな電動車両を使えばいいではないかと思うかもしれないが、日本の空港とは設計が違うチャンギ空港では、バックヤード通路が少なく、一般の旅客者が往来する場所を通って搬送する仕組みになっており、人が混在する環境でも安全に運用できる衝突防止能力が求めらる。また、ラウンジがあるフロアへの移動では業務用ではない小型エレベータを通る必要があり、安全上の理由と併せて大きな電動車両を使うことができない。これらを満たすことを評価されて採用に至ったと大島氏は語る。なお「サウザー」はSATSによる買取で、価格は一台あたりおおよそ250万円。荷物を積載する上物が大きかったため、提携しているSUS社のシンガポール支社にも協力してもらって納品したという。SATSは空港で運用する車両や機材のメンテナンスセンターを自社で持っており、今後サウザーの導入台数がさらに増えてゆけば、保守などはSATS側で行う可能性もある。SATSは第1航空貨物ターミナルで「eコマース エアハブ」という配送拠点も運営している。そこでの活用なども想定して、今後さらに導入を進めていきたいと言っているそうだ。SATSの作成した現場ビデオはDoog社の英語版ウェブサイトで閲覧できる。【次ページ】国を挙げてロボットを迎え入れるシンガポールRecommended article
