heavy! huge! But the cleaning power is outstanding. Miele vacuum cleaner

Germany's Miele is a world-renowned luxury home appliance manufacturer. Large home appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines are also popular in Japan. One of Miele's hidden popular products is the vacuum cleaner. Miele's vacuum cleaner is an old-fashioned corded canister type, but it has a strong fan base in Japan. Therefore, I actually checked Miele's high-performance vacuum cleaner "Compact C2 CleanMeister PowerLine SDCO4" (hereafter, SDCO4).

Currently, Miele's vacuum cleaner lineup has two main types: "Compact C2" and "Compact C1". The SDCO4 that I tried this time is the top model (official online store price is 71,500 yen).

In Japan, easy-to-handle cordless stick cleaners are mainstream, but Miele's vacuum cleaner is a canister type that requires a power cord, which is different from this trend. Of course, even in Japan, canister vacuum cleaners are popular among users who want to clean thoroughly without worrying about battery life.

On the other hand, Miele's SDCO4 has a slightly larger body size of width 253 x depth 428 x height 230 mm. Furthermore, the weight is 6.3 kg with the standard pipe and head attached. Recent canister vacuum cleaners generally have a standard mass of 4 kg or less, so it is quite impressive.

The first impression of the SDCO4 is that it is heavy and large, but the reason for its popularity is its cleaning ability. When you actually clean it, the dust absorption power of the carpet is amazing. I have tried many vacuum cleaners because of my job, but the ability to remove dust that fell on the roots of carpet piles and dust that got tangled in piles was overwhelming.

[Video] I rubbed pet hair and dust on the carpet and cleaned it with SDCO4. Most of the hair is sucked up by moving the head forward. The suction power is amazing! However, some dust remained when the head was returned.

Heavy! Big! But cleaning power Exceptional Miele vacuum cleaner

One of the reasons for the high carpet cleaning power of SDCO4 is that the standard head does not use a brush, and the adhesion to the floor is improved. Most modern vacuum cleaners have a rotating brush inside the head that scrapes and sucks up dust. For this reason, the suction power itself is not that high, and there is one aspect that it is difficult to remove dust deep inside the carpet where the brush hair cannot reach.

In addition, even if the other company's vacuum cleaner has a non-brush head, it intentionally has a low adhesion to the floor. This is because increasing the adhesion of the head makes the head less slippery. The SDCO4 uses a high-adhesion head that emphasizes cleaning power, so when cleaning carpets with the standard head and maximum power, the head will not move unless you apply a lot of force with both hands. It takes a lot of power to clean the carpet, but you can get excellent carpet cleaning power.

The good thing is that it is a non-brush type, so you don't need to clean the head. The head with a built-in rotating brush requires regular maintenance, as it may become entangled with hair or pet hair and stop rotating. With SDCO4 heads that do not have built-in brushes, this maintenance is unnecessary. However, because it does not have a built-in brush, it does not have the effect of "wiping floors (tiles)" that some vacuum cleaners with a built-in rotating brush have.

Since Miele is a German brand, the SDCO4 has features not found in Japanese vacuum cleaners. For example, the SDCO4 is a paper pack type vacuum cleaner, but this dedicated paper pack "FJM HyClean 3D" has a multi-layer structure and is extremely durable. You don't have to worry about it breaking even if you suck in sharp debris such as nails. Also, when the lid of the vacuum cleaner is opened, the lid of the paper pack automatically closes, preventing dust from leaking out when replacing the paper pack.

What's interesting is that you can choose filters. Recent high-performance vacuum cleaners are equipped with a filter that makes "exhaust cleaner than the air in the room" a matter of course. For SDCO4, you can choose from two types of this filter: "HEPA Air Clean Filter" and "Active Air Clean Filter" (A HEPA Air Clean Filter is included at the time of purchase).

The HEPA Air Clean Filter is a HEPA13 grade level that removes 99.95% of viruses, bacteria and particles. On the other hand, the Active Air Clean Filter is a filter with an excellent deodorizing function that contains activated carbon. Suitable for homes with pets and smokers.

One of the things that makes me feel German is the abundance of additional accessories. The SDCO4 comes with 5 types of accessories as standard, but various other accessories are available separately.

Recently, more and more households are laying large carpets for their children and pets, but the disadvantage is that carpets tend to be breeding grounds for dust mites. When I tried using SDCO4, it sucked dust deep into the carpet. I've used many vacuum cleaners in the past, but there aren't many that can clean carpets as well as this one. With SDCO4, there is a sense of security that the dust mites themselves, as well as dust mites feed on, are thoroughly removed. It may be the best choice for households with toddlers who are concerned about house dust or families with allergies.

However, due to the high cleaning power, the "easy cleaning" is also sacrificed. The large and heavy main unit is obviously not suitable for cleaning the places you notice. It is recommended that you use it in conjunction with a handy cordless stick cleaner, use it with a cordless cleaner on a regular basis, and thoroughly clean with SDCO4 on weekends.
