The new Volkswagen versatile car, the first PHV setting in all ages. News from Europe
Volkswagen unveiled a new "multi-van" (Volkswagen Multivan) in Europe on June 10th.
In September 1985, Volkswagen released the first generation of multi-truck, a passenger version based on commercial truck "T3", at the IAA International Auto Show (Commercial vehicle) held in Frankfurt, Germany.
Since then, multi-purpose vans have been set up as passenger minivans based on "T4", "T5" and "T6". In 2019, the T6's multi-van has been greatly improved, updated to "multi-purpose vehicle 6.1".
The design of a horizontal tone that pays homage to the DNA of successive models
The new multi-shift will adopt a horizontal tone design to pay tribute to the DNA models of previous generations. On this basis, we introduced a new additional design with a wide grille and slim headlights. A-pillar is a design that improves visibility. In tribute to the air-cooled engines installed in the rear of the previous three generations, the air intake of the foreground was painted the same color as the fuselage.
The new body size, full length 4973 mm, width 1941 mm, full height 1903 mm, wheel seat 3124 mm. A long version with a total length of 5173 mm is also prepared. Compared with the traditional type, the wheelbase is longer and the total height is lower. It is designed to improve aerodynamics, improve fuel economy and extend flight life.
In the new type of multi-van, the standard equipment is LED headlights. Optionally equipped with "IQ.LIGHT", the "LED matrix headlight" can illuminate the front brightly even during the turn without hallucinating the oncoming driver. As a daily running light function, the IQ.LIGHT system is equipped with a LED horizontal bar with lighting on the front grille. A new type of Volkswagen multi-van
Sliding central console becomes a scalable table
The new multi-compartment interior decoration uses newly developed modular lightweight seats and innovative dining tables. Equipped with a central console that slides between the front seat and the back seat. The sliding central console also acts as a scalable table when used in the backseat. The height of the console is adjustable and is equipped with three cup holders.
The new model is equipped with three rows of seats for up to seven people. The second and third rows of seats are up to 25% lighter than the traditional type and can be removed. The second row of agents is rotated 180 degrees to allow for face-to-face layout. The third row of seats can be replaced from traditional bench seats with separate three seats and removed foot by foot.
The traditional handbrake has been cancelled and a new type of electric parking brake is used. DSG in which the transmission is controlled only by the shift line. The shift lever is replaced by a switch and placed on the dashboard. As a result, the occupant space is expanded.
The new multi-truck ensures 469 liters of luggage space behind the third row of seats. If the third row of seats is removed, it will be expanded to 1844 litres (1850 liters on the panoramic glass roof). A new type of Volkswagen multi-van
Power of 218ps in PHV system
The new multi-shift is based on the "MQB" platform of Volkswagen Group. The "e-hybrid" of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV) has been set for the first time in the past generations of multi-purpose vehicles and Volkswagen commercial vehicle models.
The new multi-compartment e-hybrid PHV powertrain, engine direct injection 1.4 liter series four-cylinder gasoline turbine "TSI", maximum power 150ps. The maximum power of the motor is 115ps. In the whole PHV system, the power of 218ps is output by combining the engine and the motor. The transmission is 6-speed DSG. In EV mode, silent zero-emission driving can be carried out.
Secondary battery is a lithium-ion battery with a storage capacity of 13kWh. Installed under the flat floor of the new multi-van van. As a result, the vehicle center of gravity is reduced and the performance of the bracelet is pursued without sacrificing the indoor space. The charging socket is located on the right side of the front fender.
