Reasons for recommending a steam humidifier
Zojirushi's steam humidifier "EE-RP50".
I have been using Zojirushi's steam humidifier "EE-RP50" for about a month. It is the first steam humidifier in my life. Humidifiers come in a variety of types, including hybrid and evaporative. There are quite a few people who say, "I'm not very familiar with the steam type."
I haven't used a humidifier for about 5 years, I've been using a wet towel and drying it indoors, but after using this product for a month, I recommend this product as well as the steam humidifier itself. I want to This time, I would like to take the EE-RP50 as an example and write about the appeal of steam humidifiers.
Easy to maintain and less prone to "humidifier disease"
There are probably many people who use a humidifier but find it troublesome to maintain it. About 5 years ago, I neglected to clean the humidifier filter and had mold growing all over the filter. This traumatized me and I started avoiding humidifiers for about five years.
Press and hold the "save mode for boiling water" for 3 seconds to activate the citric acid cleaning mode.
The number one advantage of the steam type is that it is overwhelmingly easy to clean. As mentioned at the beginning, there are various types of humidifiers, but the steam type is by far the easiest.
This type of humidifier should have an image of sending steam into the air by boiling water. Since no filter is required, it is sufficient to pour lukewarm water mixed with citric acid into the tank once every month or two and activate the citric acid cleaning mode.
If you neglect to take care of your humidifier, you run the risk of inhaling mold and germs, leading to the so-called "humidifier disease (hypersensitivity pneumonitis)". In addition to cold-like symptoms such as coughing and fever, it is said that people with allergies may have difficulty breathing.
In particular, the ultrasonic method, which releases moisture by ultrasonic vibration without applying heat, is the most dangerous. The more you look into it, the more scary it becomes, but in this respect, the steam type is the safest.
Zojirushi also has a mode that reduces the boiling sound
On the bottom right is the "save mode for boiling water".
When you actually use the steam system, you will find that it does not make a "rattling" sound like a washing machine or dishwasher when boiling water, but a "soo" or "bumping" sound like a rice cooker or mochi maker. will occur. Since the water is being boiled, it can't be helped even if it's noisy.
Zojirushi's humidifiers, including the EE-RP50, employ a "sound-saving mode" that suppresses the sound of boiling water by slowly raising the temperature of the water. If you use this mode, you won't be so bothered by the sound of the water boiler. As far as I checked, I didn't find a similar function in other steam types other than Zojirushi. Zojirushi is good after all, saying that it is a feeling of security that is famous for pots.
Disadvantages such as hot steam coming out of the outlet
It looks like hot steam is coming out.
However, the steam type has the disadvantage that hot steam comes out of the outlet. Although the risk of humidifier disease is low, if your child gets a burn or other baldness due to the steam, it will be useless. It would be better to consider the introduction after considering the age of the child and the usage environment.
In addition, it is also important to understand in advance that the electricity bill is high. The power consumption of the EE-RP50 is 985W when boiling water and 410W when humidifying. If you continue to boil water for 30 minutes and humidify for 7.5 hours for 30 days, it will be about 2889.73 yen. For example, Panasonic's vaporization type "FE-KXS07-W" is about 124.8 yen even if it is in a hurry and continues to operate for 8 hours for 30 days. Amazingly different.
* Calculated at 27 yen per 1 kWh.
Considering the high level of safety and ease of maintenance, steam humidifiers are outstanding. Weighing the merits and demerits, I chose the steam type. For those who want to introduce a humidifier, why not include a steam type as one of the options?
The capacity of the EE-RP50 is 3.0L. Humidification capacity is 480 mL/hour. The applicable floor area is 13 square meters (8 tatami mats) for wooden Japanese-style rooms, and 22 square meters (13 tatami mats) for housing complexes and prefabricated Western-style rooms. Humidification time is 6 hours for strong continuous and 24 hours for weak continuous. The size is width 24 × depth 26 × height 31.5. Weight is 2.4kg.
