Home appliances ASCII Panasonic, air conditioner that becomes an air purifier

Panasonic announces an air conditioner with an air purifying function. It catches particles such as tobacco, pollen, mold fungus, PM2.5, etc. with an electrostatic filter equivalent to 67 conventional filters. The filter is movable, and it works only when air purification is required. It will be released in late October.

Hello, this is Ryo Morita (34) from ASCII Home Appliances. He is doing a series of childcare series such as "Entering boys' childcare leave." He began to worry about handling power cords as his baby began to squirm at the age of six months. Another problem is air purification. Since my house is small, I don't think it's a problem to put it in even if I buy an air purifier.

Panasonic's new "Eolia" product is an air conditioner with air purifying capacity. In addition to the normal filter attached to the air conditioner, a rolled electrostatic filter "Active Clean Filter" is installed. It has an air purifying capacity equivalent to 20 tatami mats and can clean the air in the room like an air purifier.

However, if there is always a large filter in the air intake, the performance of the air conditioner will deteriorate, so it is a mechanism that operates only when necessary. Equipped with a dust sensor, the filter moves in response to air pollution and starts air cleaning operation. The air conditioner itself also has a "clean sign" that shows the cleanliness of the air with a light.

At the presentation venue, there was a smoked glass case that imitated cigarette smoke. The smoke disappeared in just a few minutes when Aeolia started driving. It is overwhelming compared to conventional products that do not have a dedicated air purifying function.

▲ The old and new air conditioners are in two glass cases.

▲ The smoke on the new product on the left disappeared cleanly in just a few minutes.

The inside of the air conditioner is also devised for cleanliness.

A normal air filter also removes dust from the air, but if oil stains such as sebum and food make the dust sticky, it will stick to the heat exchanger. Therefore, we apply a water-soaked oil-repellent coating agent to the heat exchanger and apply a "dustless coating" to prevent dust from sticking to it.

Other companies also apply the same coating, but Pana says that the cut surface (jagged part) of the heat exchanger fins is coated with miso. Other companies coat only the sides, and it seems that dust will become seeds and become lumpy.

You can also check the air condition in the room with the dedicated app "Aeolia App". Do you feel that "the air in the room is dirty ..."? It's painful.

Why did you add air purifying ability to the air conditioner?

When Panasonic asked consumers what kind of air conditioner they were attracted to, it was related to cleanliness, such as "no mold," "difficult to get dust and dirt," and "I want the same level of air cleaning power as an air purifier." It was said that there were many requests.

It is true that the air conditioner cools the sucked air and puts it out, so it makes sense to have the ability to clean the air. I thought it would be attractive to use Daikin's air conditioner "Uruto Sarara" as a humidifier, but it is also attractive to use it as an air purifier. However, I would like to compare the advantages and disadvantages of how it compares to a dedicated air purifier.
