During the declaration of an emergency in April 2020, the optimistic voice that the corona will end in the summer when the ultraviolet rays fall, it is not possible to sterilize the air where the coronavirus is floating using ultraviolet rays. I was wondering if I was looking into it. As a result of various investigations, I found out that there is a deep ultraviolet LED that emits deep ultraviolet rays that do not exist on the earth but have a sterilizing function against bacteria and viruses. Then, we developed an air purifier using deep ultraviolet LED made in Japan and wanted to help corona-ka with a little power, so our company, whose main business is interior work, launched the ISP Venture Division as an in-house venture. We have started a project to develop an air purifier equipped with UV LEDs.

Naturally, the project failed many times, and we repeatedly started over from the design and solved each difficulty one by one. First, for the selection of deep ultraviolet LEDs, we adopted the long-life deep ultraviolet LEDs of Stanley Electric Co., Ltd., who taught us about the functions and performance of LEDs, optical simulation, etc. In addition, it was a very difficult problem to keep the air sucked in by the air purifier in a certain place and discharge it after sterilization. Therefore, instead of sterilizing the air itself, we switched to sterilizing by adsorbing bacteria and viruses floating in the air on filters. Therefore, we have adopted an electronic dust collection filter (hereinafter referred to as plasma grab filter) that does not deteriorate even when exposed to ultraviolet rays and can collect small particles.

Air is sucked in from the bottom of the main body, large substances are caught by two pre-filters, and fine particles such as pollen, bacteria and viruses are positively charged and negatively charged by the ionizer, arranged at 3 mm intervals. Adsorb to multiple filters. Furthermore, the adsorbed substances are sterilized by irradiating them with ultraviolet rays using 16 deep ultraviolet LEDs. In addition, a carbon filter is also installed, which also exerts a deodorant effect at the same time.

Equipped with 16 deep ultraviolet LEDs that irradiate deep ultraviolet rays of 275 nm, it irradiates bacteria and viruses adsorbed on the plasma grab filter with deep ultraviolet rays to eradicate them. We analyzed the irradiation of deep ultraviolet rays using lighting system optical software, and installed deep ultraviolet LEDs above and below the plasma grab filter to design for efficient irradiation.

The deep UV LED is set to turn off automatically when the main power is turned on and then irradiated for 2 hours. In addition, since it can be turned on at will, it is possible to irradiate before cleaning the filter or at meetings where a large number of people participate.
